Free, web-based, private video messaging service, WinkBall, has today announced a partnership with Flip video cameras and CMC Matrix Sound System to bring the Notting Hill Carnival to the world through a series of video blogs hosted on a specially dedicated microsite WinkBall Notting Hill Carnival (winkball.com/nottinghillcarnival).
In the run up to - and during - the two day event, which will run from 30th to 31stAugust, WinkBall will be hosting a number of video blogs created by Carnival participants - who will be able to share with the world what Carnival means to them.
Contributors to the scheme range from Dragons Den entrepreneur and local celebrity Levi Roots, whose Reggae Reggae Sauce was made famous at The Notting Hill Carnival, to the Steel Band at Fox Primary School, located in the Notting Hill area.
As part of its support for the event, WinkBall will be sponsoring the CMC Matrix Sound System - and in the run up to the event will feature blogs from artists who will be performing over the weekend.
In addition WinkBall and Flip will be filming throughout Carnival at ground level providing live and up-to-date blog coverage of events.
As part of the partnership all messages that are sent through WinkBall.com during the event will be supported by a network of five-second advertisements designed by Flip, which are played at the end of each video. This unique form of advertising not only ensures that all advertisements will be seen, but also provides an unpolluted visual experience for the viewer.
Co-founder of WinkBall, Dr. James Ohene-Djan, said: “The Carnival is the second largest street festival in the world and practically passes our offices every year so we are well placed to bring this huge cultural event to the world through Winkball.com.
“This partnership with Flip has enabled us to go beyond the traditional screening of major events online which normally detaches the viewer from the event through a distant webcam."
He added, “With personal blogs and live feeds from people at the event on WinkBall.com we’ll be able to give viewers a personal insight into the hard work and anticipation felt by those that make Carnival the special event that it is and expresses the great time people have when they are there.”
WinkBall is one of the first UK companies providing services in line with the government’s Digital Britain initiative, enabling citizens to overcome the obstacles of effective digital communication. Winkball.com is produced by the WinkBall Project, which is delivering a range of personal video communications services, corporate communications tools and video broadcasting applications.
The WinkBall Project has also developed WinkBall Base, an internal video communications system which enables organisations to share documents and communicate face-to-face on a secure closed network, and WinkBall Broadcaster, for video broadcasting, email campaigning and personalised video messaging through WinkBall.com and WinkBall Base.
