Webcredible, the user experience consultancy, today announces its appointment by Tower Hamlets Council for a usability evaluation and accessibility audit on its website.
The project is designed to provide independent validation of the recently re-launched website and offer recommendations for providing the highest levels of usability and accessibility for Tower Hamlets constituents who use the website.
Tower Hamlets Council's website is designed to provide local residents with an accessible, easy to use informational and transactional resource.
The most popular services offered by the site include paying council tax, contacting councillors, and viewing planning and development applications and information.
Webcredible's usability evaluation will consist of a three day expert usability review of the key user journeys of the website.
The accessibility audit will involve analysing the main page templates and key user journeys against the W3C web content accessibility guidelines (WCAG), to highlight areas where the website is not AA-compliant. Analysis and recommendations will then be communicated to Tower Hamlets Council based on the results.
Keith Paulin, Customer Access Development Manager at Tower Hamlets Council comments, "With increasing access to the Internet across the UK in recent years, online has become a key channel for local authorities to serve their constituents.
"Our website allows easy access to information and lets users make payments online rather than using more costly channels, and it's essential that it offers the best user experience possible and is accessible to all. Webcredible's experience in this sector will be key in helping us make the final steps to achieve this."
Webcredible was chosen by Tower Hamlets Council for this project following a two-way competitive pitch process.
