Bruno, the filmstar fashionista prankster, has been given a taste of his own medicine after a premier of his new movie was hijacked by a guerrilla marketing stunt from Nando's.
The chicken restaurant chain arranged for a pink stretch hummer to arrive at the Sydney screening half an hour before actor Sacha Baron Cohen.
Six scantily clad models exited before a fake Bruno, the team then taking to the red carpet. The faux fashion star mounted a podium and addressed the crowd with a loudhailer before the models covered themselves in the restaurant’s Peri Peri Sauce.
Security moved in quickly but not before the models unfurled posters reading, “This year’s hottest chicks are covered in Peri Peri.”
The event was captured by the media... and reported around the world securing priceless PR for Nando’s.
Nando’s national PR manager, Jacinta Cavalot, said, “We’ve been watching the launch of the movie as it’s rolled out around the world and couldn’t believe no-one had tried to pull off a stunt.”
The activity was staged by the Sphere Agency, whose MD, Michael Abdul, added that Bruno’s antics at Milan’s Fashion Week were the inspiration for the stunt.
