The Marketing Communication Consultants Association (MCCA) has announced that EHS Brann’s Group Managing Director Mike Spicer will be the trade body’s new Chairman. He replaces outgoing Chair Gary Brine, as the MCCA seeks to ensure its leadership is close to the day to day issues of the agency world.
Brine, who left international marketing agency Gyro last year, has stepped down to ensure the MCCA’s chairman is an agency principle who can maintain the support, protection and defence of agencies as extensions of their boards.
Spicer will now lead the MCCA’s board – a collection of agency heads representing agencies of all sizes and disciplines and a number of specialists in critical business considerations such as new business, procurement, legal issues and HR. With over 20 years in the business, Spicer has run Arc Worldwide and EHS Brann and worked with clients including Procter & Gamble, Diageo, Littlewoods Pools and Warburtons.
Scott Knox, MD of the MCCA explains; “ Gary has been an inspiring figurehead and an unswerving supporter of the MCCA, but whilst he is taking a break from the agency scene, he felt very strongly that our members should be represented by an agency head. We have been considering next Chairman candidates for some time now, and Mike was absolutely first choice, so it makes sense that he takes the reins from Gary straight away.
"There are big challenges ahead for our members, and the wider agency network so its essential that they can be led by an experienced agency head who is facing the same challenges. I know the board is grateful to Gary for all he has done, and will join me in welcoming Mike to the new role.”
