As part of their ongoing relationship with the brand, retail design experts rpa:vision has launched a new flagship Tommy Hilfiger store in Dublin’s exclusive Grafton Street which ranks as one of the top five most expensive retail locations in Europe - along with London’s New Bond Street and Les Champs Elysee in Paris.
rpa:vision has been working closely with Tommy Hilfiger internationally on stores across the UK, France, Germany and India.
rpa:vision began work on the Grafton Street store earlier this year. The store, which occupies two buildings, spans three floors, and offers the entire Tommy lifestyle in men’s, women’s and children’s collections will become the flagship for the newly created Tommy Hilfiger Ireland Ltd.
With a total retail area of around 6,000 sq ft the ground floor, Men’s Sportswear, carries the traditional ‘Gentleman’s Club’ feel with a contemporary Tommy twist.
It combines the rich eclectic Sportswear concept of dark wood fixtures mixed with elements such as antique oak floors, traditional leather ottoman seating, vintage style globe light fittings, antique furniture and a backdrop of tailoring fabrics as wallpaper in highlighted areas.
The main women’s wear area will be representative of its sportswear roots with some elegant feminine touches including Walnut fixtures combined with decorative elements such as silk wall lights, velvet curtains and ottoman seating.
Nigel Collett, creative director of rpa:vision, says, “Once again we are delighted to be working with Tommy Hilfiger on such an outstanding building. The look and feel of the interior reflects the essence of the Tommy Hilfiger brand with exuberant detailing and finishes worthy of this flagship location.”
He continues, “This has been an architecturally challenging project as it required bringing together two listed buildings with varying floor levels and roof lines thus adding an interesting structural angle to the brief. The main design focus for the store is a glass lift encased within a frameless glass lift shaft entwined within an oak stairwell - following the concept used in the Regent St flagship store, also developed by rpa:vision.”
