boxedup.com, the online social shopping community, today launched a new campaign with a clear message for Christmas shoppers: don’t just be content with unwrapping rubbish presents, take the necessary steps to uncrap them! This week, boxedup will be calling for Christmas shoppers to put a stop to unwanted gifts with a new tongue-in-cheek campaign and dedicated website www.christmasuncrapped.com.
With reports of over £1.2 billion pounds being wasted last year on 87.6 million unwanted Christmas gifts*, boxedup has the following advice for consumers: start making your present lists now, then ensure friends and family know all about them to avoid receiving gifts that are going to be stuffed in a drawer and forgotten about!
Chris Osborne co-founder and CEO of boxedup comments: “There are only so many deodorant gift sets, books and vouchers one person needs each year and almost all of us will get a present on Christmas day that we don't really want. We have found that by listing exactly what you would like and making everyo4tgne aware of your wishes, you avoid the bitter disappointment of receiving pointless presents that you will end up flogging on eBay.”
Chris continues: “Recent reports** have shown that the number of consumers shopping online at Christmas is quickly rising each year. boxedup makes surfing and shopping online easy, meaning when you see something you like you can instantly list it, taking away the hassle of searching for items again and again on a variety of sites.”
boxedup provides a social network platform where members can manage and build their own personal wish lists as well as link to like-minded friends. These lists can be shared with family and friends who can then comment on the selected items. There is also a Facebook application where you can share your boxedup lists through your Facebook profile.
The dedicated microsite, www.christmasuncrapped.com, will host a variety of fun content including competitions, infographics, and a viral video campaign, where users can vote for their most unwanted gifts to be destroyed in a variety of quirky and unusual ways. These videos will be released online every two weeks in the run up to Christmas.
