Blyk, the free mobile network for 16-24 year olds funded by advertising, has teamed up the British Youth Council to promote the organisation’s Snapshot 60 photography competition.
The competition aims to find out what fires up young people in the UK today. Young people under the age of 26 are invited to submit photographs that fall into three different categories: Inspiring, Empowering and Campaigning. Blyk will support the campaign by introducing and promoting the competition to its members.
Emily Beardsmore, Chair of BYC says: ‘Almost nine in ten young people are bothered by the way they are represented by the media. This competition is a great chance to promote positive images of young people created by young people. We’re very grateful to Blyk for their support of this competition as it will mean that more young people are able to get heard on the issues that matter to them.’
The top prize is placement at one of the London’s top style magazines and winners from each category will also have their photos exhibited at both the British Library and the Houses of Parliament.
The partnership demonstrates Blyk’s ongoing commitment to empowering and showcasing young creative talent. Blyk today supports grass roots music through its innovative music programme and also continues to work with young artists from the London College of Communication to help develop the Blyk brand via illustrations and short film animations.
The SnapShot 60 competition runs until the end of October.
