TDK Life on Record is continuing its European tour and bringing its highly innovative trailer to London. Specifically designed to showcase how home entertainment has changed over the past 40 years right up to the new Blu-ray era of high-definition, TDK Life on Record’s gallery will be in London’s Covent Garden from 5 -16 September.
Visitors will take a trip down memory lane as each room reflects a different decade, right through from the seventies to the noughties.
Open to the public, media and partners, TDK Life on Record’s trailer highlights developments and legacy through the decades within a cultural context, whether it is the audio cassette in the seventies, DVD in the nineties, or Home Cinema in the noughties.
This journey leads through to the future with Blu-ray discs. Coinciding with London’s Fashion and Design week, the TDK Life on Record Trailer designed by Smashing Productions and architect Fabrizio Bertero, comprises two containers that are uniquely connected together.
One container hosts the museum of technologies past and the other is dedicated to the future of our viewing and listening pleasure through high-definition and the Blu-ray format. Design icons Zanotta and Flos, have perfectly captured the essence of each era through decoration and design.
The TDK Life on Record Trailer is as equally eye-catching from the outside and will engage TDK life on Record partners and draw mass attention from the public. For additional media attention, TDK Life on Record and PR agency Firefly Communications have also under taken research to identify which celebrity the public most wish to see in high-definition.
The as-yet unnamed celebrity will be appearing at the Trailer for a press photocall. BBC Radio 1’s film critic, James King, will be speak on the impact that high-definition is having on the film industry at a hospitality evening for supporting partners and the channel.
Andrew Burrows, head of marketing communication for TDK Life on Record Europe says: “This year has seen a large consumer uptake in high-definition hardware and media, in particular Blu-ray which is now the dominant media format.
The TDK Trailer allows us to bring back childhood memories of TDK media and gives us the stage to show visitors the future of digital media and Blu-ray in an innovative way.” The TDK Life on Record Trailer has already visited Barcelona, Venice, Rome and Milan and will continue to visit more of Europe’s most innovative and cosmopolitan cities.
