Recruiters are always asking us how to get a better response for their job ads on UTalkMarketing, so we’ve developed this five step formula to help you get a great response.
1. Keep titles simple
We know clients like to make job titles complicated but most jobsite search engines work by relevance. Ensure your job is picked up in the right searches by making the title as simple as possible. You can always give candidates more information about the role in the job details page.
Do use: Marketing Manager
Don’t use: Marketing/Communications Manager
2. Include a salary on your job and increase response by 50%
If you can add a salary make sure you round it to the nearest thousand.
Do use: £23K - £25K
Don’t use: £23K.32K or £29K.56K
3. Split text up into clear sections
Make your job advert easy to read by supplying relevant information about your vacancy in three simple to understand sections.
Candidate Skills and Experience
4. Use bullet points
The average candidate spends less than 30 seconds looking at a job description. Make your job text as easy to read as possible so candidates can find crucial information quickly. Example:
- Account management
- Face to face experience
5. Make jobs sound interesting
There is a lot of competition for good staff. Know your target audience and gear your text to appeal to them, but try and paint a picture with your words.
Do say: Fantastic opportunity, great office atmosphere
Although a lot of this may seem like common sense you’d be surprised how often these simple key points are overlooked.
Keep to this simple guide and you’ll increase the number of applications your job ads receive and rapidly improve your ROI.
