PULSE, the UK’s first channel aimed squarely at the gaming demographic, has announced the launch of Martial Arts TV, a series of programmes that will focus on all aspects of martial arts, with Thai Kick Boxing in the first phase.
PULSE, which also carries cross-platform gaming platform XLEAGUE.TV, Cultra films and male-orientated MAV TV, is set to launch Martial Arts TV as the latest addition to the channel’s collection of branded blocks of TV, with a view to potentially extending the block into a standalone channel. The shows will be targeted at both male and female sports enthusiasts, martial arts associations, clubs and bodies, and online community.
Aired at 5 – 6pm and 11 – 12am each night on PULSE (Sky Channel 208), Martial Arts TV will phase in live interviews with martial art’s most prolific stars, providing tips and hints for viewers, show classic movies and give updates from the sport’s global community.
Ray Mia, Channel Head at PULSE comments: “PULSE is the only UK channel aimed solely at the gaming community, but we appreciate that this audience’s interest is not limited to gaming alone. Martial arts is an increasingly popular sport in the UK, and we were drawn to the way it comprises the key elements that also make gaming so compelling – such as competition and combat. Martial Arts TV will bring a new element to the growing mix of PULSE brands. The combination of profiling sporting pros and offering advice for beginners should ensure we reach martial arts devotees and general gaming fans alike.”
Nick Payne, Chairman of Martial Arts TV comments: “Our relationship with Pulse is an ideal way for us to expand our broadcast reach in the UK on the Sky platform and helps us connect with Pulse’s video game community. We look forward to building a successful offering with Pulse, with quality, gusto and a funky edge to serve martial arts fans who have been neglected for too long. We are excited by the opportunities for Martial Arts TV in the months and years ahead and to furthering our mission of bringing the strength and beauty of martial arts to the world.”
