How do create a buzz for a new retail opening? Have a party and invite key influencers and movers and shakers, naturally.
But how can you get the message out there to the public at large and drive footfall.
This was the dilemma facing Aegus Media in Denmark with the opening of a new Adidas store in Copenhagen.
Their solution? To time the opening to co-incide with Copenhagen Fashion Week and create buzz to align the brand with the fashion circuit.
A giant branded shoe box in a public space also provided photographic opportunities and a chance for consumers to engage with the brand.
But even more clever was the creation of hundreds of branded rubber ducks released into the city’s most famous and photographic spot Nyhavn.
They were also set free in fountains and water features in the city centre where their novelty meant they were picked up by passers by.
The call to action? Recipients who took their duck to the newly opened store received a free gift. Driving hundreds of potential new consumers in store.
